Shields’s history

Shields is a resort village on the north-western shore of Blackstrap Lake, in the Rural Municipality of Dundurn No. 314, east of the town of Dundurn. It became an incorporated resort village on January 1, 1981.

Life here centres on the lake, with boating, fishing, swimming and other water sports. The village has a nine-hole golf course, and Blackstrap Provincial Park is a short drive away on the lake's eastern side, offering Mount Blackstrap, camping, picnicking, boating and swimming. Directly across the lake from Shields, on the north-eastern shore, Lakeside Golf Resort opened on June 1, 2021.

Shields is run by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator.
